Roy Jason Ashdown
Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer, Skyline Group of Companies
Jason Ashdown (also known as “Roy”) is one of the founding partners of the Skyline Group of Companies, and has more than 25 years of experience in real estate management and development. With expertise in construction and building systems, as well as practical, hands-on experience in real estate asset management, Jason works to consistently improve the performance, profitability, and efficiencies in Skyline’s real estate portfolios.
Jason recognizes that driving efficiencies and re-investing in properties is integral to assembling a strong portfolio. His passion for sustainable real estate practices fuelled the 2006 launch of Skyline’s Portfolio Efficiency Plan (PEP), an ongoing initiative designed to improve property performance by reducing the consumption of natural gas, hydro, water, and waste, as well as improving recycling efforts and educating tenants about sustainable living. Jason also played a lead role in facilitating two major historical building restorations in Ontario, one of which is now Skyline’s Head Office.
Jason also spearheads many philanthropic community initiatives, with the belief that a business is only as strong as the community in which it thrives. He currently sits on the board of Shelldale Better Beginnings, Better Futures, a community organization helping hundreds of families in the city of Guelph, ON.
Jason understands and promotes the fundamentals of strong management, and has a passion for repositioning properties and surfacing value through non-linear avenues. Strategic Operations are a main focus for Jason, as he takes lead of many special projects, such as condo conversions, redevelopments, new construction and solar energy production.
Jason sits on the board of the Federation of Rental Housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO), the province’s leading advocate for landlords and tenants. He also sits on the Skyline Apartment REIT Board of Trustees.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo.
