Haileybury, Ontario is not technically a town – in 2004, the city of Temiskaming Shores was created through the amalgamation of New Liskeard, Dymond, and Haileybury. Despite the amalgamation, many residents still use the old names to refer to that particular area of the city. Temiskaming Shores is Ontario’s second-smallest city, with a population of about 11,000.

Haileybury is located on Lake Timiskaming, which intersects the border between Ontario and Quebec. The large Timiskaming Mall and big box stores in the Dymond area of Temiskaming Shores serve as the shopping hub for many Quebecers, as well as the small towns nearby in Ontario. With Quebec only minutes away, the area has a noticeable Francophone population.

Temiskaming Shores is a popular area for cottagers and retirees. The majority of residents own homes, and rental apartments are often for short-term cottage leases, however there are still several options for apartments for rent in Haileybury, mostly in low-rise buildings in residential areas. The scenic town is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with great options for everything from golfing and boating to hiking and horseback riding.
